Silver Star Mountain

I have been putting this post off mainly because I felt the need to write a lengthy post walking you through each step of this hike, telling you about how I felt during each portion, the epiphanies I had as I pushed myself out of my comfort zone, and the beauty around me. But honestly, life has been insanely busy, and I am just going to stick to the “why” of this blog: to remember via words AND/OR photos. So for now, you are just getting photos and a little blurb about the hike itself. It’s fine. You’ll live.

Silver Star Mountain is about an hour and forty-five minutes away from SE Portland. We took Ed’s Loop trail, which is a 5-mile loop and 1,520 feet of elevation. The road to get there used to be treacherous, but recently there has been work done, and now it’s pretty manageable. My Outback had no problem at all getting to the trailhead. My suggestion is to go clockwise on the loop so that you get the stunning views of the mountains and so that you have the opportunity to do a little scamper up a couple of small rock walls. The wildflowers are beautiful this time of year, and to me, this hike is rated higher than Dog Mountain. That’s right, you heard me.

  1. Wow, I love that rock formation. The area looks spectacular. The trails and surrounded by the relaxing greens are perfect! Nice shot.
